Data Availability and Access

 

Seismic data from the AfricaArray observatories are being archived and distributed by the IRIS Data Management Center (www.iris.washington.edu) under the network code AF. Data are restricted to AfricaArray partners for three years after acquisition. After three years, the data will become openly available. The first data were acquired in early 2006, and so the first open release will be in early 2009. In-country network operators can release data from their stations to anyone during the three year holding period, if they want to.

AfricaArray data archived at IRIS can be viewed at: http://www.iris.edu/mda/AF .

Before archiving data from some stations, it must first be processed for timing corrections and reformatted. For those stations, the table below shows the time period for which data has been received but not yet archived at IRIS. This table will be updated periodically as incoming data are processed at sent to IRIS for archiving.
